Duke Blue Devils freshman big man Kyle Filipowski has announced that he will return to the program for his sophomore season. This is a major shake-up for not only college basketball, but also the 2023 NBA Draft. Filipowski was considered a lock for the first round and a likely top 20 pick had he decided to declare this year. Instead he will return to the Blue Devils and hope to improve his stock and make himself a higher lock for the 2024 NBA Draft. This bolsters Due for next season and makes them a serious title contender.

This past season as a freshman for the Duke Blue Devils, Kyle Filipowski averaged 15.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 44.1 percent and a three-point percentage of 28.2 percent. The Duke freshman also won the ACC Freshman of the Year award last season. Returning him to the roster is a huge announcement for Duke and now they will have a loaded roster for the 2023-24 college basketball season. Filipowski will also be an early favorite to compete for several ACC awards including the ACC Player of the Year award. The NBA will just have to wait one more season before adding the big man.
