Issa Rae is taking things to another level. The award-winning director, producer and actress has finalized an eight-figure deal with WarnerMedia. Through the deal, Rae will develop television and film projects for HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. through her production company, Hoorae.
“It’s really exciting to have that flexibility and just deepen the relationship that we already have,” Rae told Variety.
“Hoorae already had at least 15 projects in various stages of development with them, so we’d been working with them on the drama side, the unscripted side, and the documentaries side for a couple years now.”
Rae has developed a relationship with WarnerMedia, formerly known as Time Warner, since 2016. During their five-year relationship, Rae’s celebrity has skyrocketed due to the success of Insecure. She’s also starred in The Photograph with Lakeith Stanfield and launched her own music imprint, Raedio. Moving forward, she’s slated to develop a show called Rap Sh*t and star in a horror movie called Vengeance. Most recently, she locked up a deal with Viacom CBS to license music from Raedio. She will also act as a music supervisor for certain episodes of Love & Hip-Hop on VH1.
