This week, Ella Mai has enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She’s met up with Pharrell, spent time with J. Cole and watched “Boo’d Up” go platinum for the seventh time. To end the week off right, she’s delivered her first single of 2022. Powered by velvety production, “DFMU” sets the stage for her upcoming album.
“Like a glimpse from the past you conceal the dark/In the frame you’re the poster on the wall/In my dreams, you the prince and I’m at the ball/Fairytales, I’m not used to them at all,” she sings over the piano-heavy production.
“You got me questioning what have you done to me/Used to be out of reach/Feel like you’re testin’ me, you’re the necessity/Full court press on me.”
At this time, it’s still a bit unclear as to when Ella Mai will deliver her second album. At then of 2020, she delivered “Not Another Love Song” with Boi-1da before stepping back for much of the year. This year, fans are hoping that things go a bit smoother. If “DFMU” is any indication of what she has in store, Ella Mai will be around all here. Check out the new track from the UK star below.
