Less than two weeks ago, Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel teased a few spinoff projects as the main franchise comes to a close.
“I started developing the female spin-off…in 2017 with other spin-offs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spin-offs,” Diesel said.
Well, it appears that we have a bit of information regarding the first spinoff film. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will reportedly reprise the role of Luke Hobbs in a standalone Fast & Furious film. Details regarding the film are still being kept under wraps, but is expected to “bridge between the events of the just-released Fast X and the upcoming Fast X: Part II.” Johnson most recently appeared as Hobbs in a Fast X credits scene in May.
Johnson is a familiar face to many Fast & Furious fans. Aside from being one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, he appeared as a security service agent named Luke Hobbs in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6. He also starred alongside Jason Statham and Idris Elba in Hobbs & Shaw.
Beyond his roles in the Fast & Furious franchise, Johnson recently starred in DC’s Black Adam and re-launched the XFL with his business partner, Dany Garcia. Moving forward, he is set to star in the live-action production of Moana.
