More than 25 years after his untimely death, Tupac Shakur will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The pop culture icon joins a number of his contemporaries who have received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, including Sean “Diddy” Combs and Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus.
The star will be presented to his sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, during a public ceremony on June 7, 2023. Shakur’s star ceremony will be hosted by legendary radio host Kurt “Big Boy” Alexander and feature guest speakers Allen Hughes and Jamal Joseph.
“Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary,” Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez said.
“This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”
Fans from around the world can view the public ceremony next week via the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s YouTube channel.
