Actor Aldis Hodge is the latest addition to the superhero film, Black Adam. Hodge will play the role of Hawkman. He will star alongside the film’s lead, Dwayne Johnson, when the cast begins filming in the spring.

Shortly after news of the casting became public, Johnson called Hodge to congratulate him. At first, Johnson recalls that Hodge didn’t believe it was him on the phone sharing the good news.

“Whoever this is stop playing on my phone,” Hodge responded according to Johnson’s account of the story on Instagram Live.

“This sh*t ain’t funny, I said stop playing on my f*cking phone,” Hodge added.

Eventually, Hodge came to understand that it was Johnson on the other end of the phone. Johnson went on to say that it ended up being one of the best conversations he’s had in some time.

Hodge has found success in recent memory playing lead roles in City on a Hill and The Invisible Man. Not to mention, he appeared in Straight Outta Compton and Underground. Currently, he’s gaining Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Jim Brown in Regina King’s directorial debut, One Night In Miami.
