Oftentimes, Hip-Hop and Rap are used as interchangeable terms in conversation. In reality, those two terms are not synonyms. Rap is a term used to categorize the music we all love from the likes of Missy Elliott, Jay-Z and all of the greats to have graced the stage. However, Hip-Hop is not just music. It’s much bigger than that. It’s fashion, dance, art, style and music. In short, it’s a lifestyle. For example, if someone were to describe the Produce Organics movement in Portland, Oregon, it wouldn’t just be Rap. It’d be Hip-Hop. From the fashion to the music, Produce Organics is a lifestyle.
Earlier this month, Produce Organics offered its latest release by way of Donte Thomas. Fresh off of releasing the Neck of the Woods LP in 2022, the Portland-based writer has returned with a string of freestyles over “Hot Wind Blows” by Tyler, The Creator and “Nobody” by Nas. This time around, he snatched Rick Ross and Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”
“I should bury the beat, but I carry the feeling. They tell me to settle down, but not married with children. I’m tearing the scene apart like a fan of rebuilding. Renovations all in a order. That’s very familiar,” he raps.
“I’m aware and peculiar. My superiority makes the next inferior. I’ve been deflecting my insecurities. I can’t get rid of them. I’ve been thinking about this for too long. I be tearing up and trying to drown my vices with ice and Jameson. Fill me up.”
“Lemon Pepper Freestyle” is just the latest freestyle entry into Donte Thomas’ 2023 catalog. Check out the track below and be on the lookout for more.
