DAZN is firmly cementing itself in the celebrity boxing space with the launch of the “MF & DAZN: X Series.” Per a DAZN press release, the newly launched venture will bring “the biggest global names in entertainment, sport, and lifestyle” into the ring for boxing events. The newly launched venture will kick off on August 27, 2022 as social media stars KSI and Alex Wassabi fight in London.
There is no love lost between Wassabi and KSI. Earlier this year, Wassabi defeated KSI’s brother, Deji, by split decision in a five-round bout. Now, Wassabi is looking to take down his older brother.
“I came to the UK this past March and beat one Olatunji brother, and now I’m coming back to finish off the other one all in the same year,” Wassabi said.
“Big Deji has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. While he’s been making music, I’ve been in the gym with one thing on my mind, Victory.”
KSI may prove to be a tougher opponent than his brother. With a record of 2-0-1, the London native enters this fight with a bit more experience. More importantly, he is not new to the big stage. In 2019, he fought Logan Paul at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California as thousands of fans cheered from the stands. Now, he’s looking to perform at the O2 Arena in front of thousands of fans.
“I’m back,” KSI said.
“After almost three years, I have returned to take over once again. First on the list is Alex Wassabi. The one who I’ve laughed at many times on my YouTube channel. The one that thinks he will destroy me at his weight. The one who defeated my brother. I’m here to avenge him (Deji) and show the world why I am a force to be reckoned with.”
