“The California National Guard is being deployed to Los Angeles overnight to support our local response to maintain peace and safety on the streets of our city,” he continued on Twitter.
Newsom’s order comes just hours after Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti issued a citywide curfew following days of protests against police brutality, income inequality and much more. Other cities such as Seattle, Atlanta and Columbus also issued curfews last night. Furthermore, National Guard personnel have been spotted in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. At this moment, there is no word on whether these curfews will extend into Sunday night as well.
