
Update (May 30, 2020 at 9:02 p.m.): City officials in Columbus, Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky and Seattle, Washington have joined the trend of issuing citywide curfews amid national unrest. Columbus will enter its curfew restrictions in from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Seattle will implement a curfew from 5 p.m. until 5 a.m. and Louisville will instill a curfew from dusk until dawn.
Update (May 30, 2020 at 7:55 p.m. ET): City officials in Atlanta, Georgia, Columbia, South Carolina and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have issued curfews following days of nationwide arrest. Atlanta’s curfew is set to take place from 9 p.m. until sunrise. Philadelphia’s curfew is set to take place from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. and Columbia’s curfew is in effect from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Officials in each city have threatened to arrest those who violate the order.
Original (May 30, 2020 at 7:15 p.m. ET): Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has issued a citywide curfew following nights of protests against police brutality. The curfew will go into effect tonight and last from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Garcetti made the announcement just moments ago at a press conference.
We will always protect free speech and Angelenos’ right to live without fear of violence or vandalism. To increase safety for demonstrators, law enforcement and all citizens of Los Angeles, we are putting a curfew in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Los Angeles is just the latest major city to issue a curfew following multiple nights of uprisings. Minneapolis has also issued an 8 p.m. curfew. Minneapolis has also planned to deploy the National Guard into the city later today. At this time, there are no reports of Los Angeles planning to implement national force.
