Days ago, David Benavidez stopped David Lemieux in the third round of their interim title fight in Arizona. After the fight was concluded, Benavidez was asked about the possibility of fighting fellow contenders like Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant and David Morrell Jr. To no one’s surprise, Benavidez was less than kind when discussing his contemporaries.
“What are you going to now? You have Charlo. You have Morrell Jr. You have Caleb Plant. What would you like to do?” Jim Gray of Showtime asked.
“I’m waiting on them to send the contract. Them b*tches know what’s up,” Benavidez answered.
It appears that Morrell Jr. was not pleased with his response. According to Boxing Scene, Morrrell Jr. is interested in fighting Benavidez in the immediate future.
“I ain’t no b*tch and you’re going to find out,” Morrell Jr. said.
“I’m from Cuba and I’m not afraid to fight you. I’ve beaten bigger and better fighters than you. So right after this fight I got coming up, get your a** ready.”
Before Morrell Jr. can pursue a fight with Benavidez, he must share the ring with Kalvin Henderson on June 4, 2022. While Henderson is a heavy underdog, Morrell Jr. is not overlooking his opponent.
“I have business to handle of June 4th against Henderson, a fight I’m taking very seriously,” he explained.
“After that, I’m on the hunt for Benavidez’ head. There is no b*tch in me, after my fight, I’m gonna make you my b*tch. No need to talk no more I’m gonna show you better than I can tell you. See you soon b*tch.”
