Washington, D.C. native Chucky Thompson has reportedly passed away. Producer Young Guru shared the tragic news via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
“Please lord I can’t take this,” he tweeted.
“This man was my heart. I love you Chucky. I can’t say thank you enough. I’m going to miss you, my brother. I can’t stop crying.”
Thompson got his start in entertainment through one of Washington, D.C.’s best resources, go-go music. He worked with the legend Chuck Brown as a member of his band, The Soul Searchers. As he grew older, he joined the Hitmen, a talented group of producers that worked closely with Bad Boy Entertainment. Throughout his time with Bad Boy, he helped craft hits like “Big Poppa” with the Notorious B.I.G. and “One Mic” by Nas. As time went on, he helped put together records for newer artists like Ne-Yo and Raheem DeVaughn.
At this time, it is unknown what led to Thompson’s death. More information will be shared as this story develops.
