In a music industry where quantity is often praised more than quality, it stands out when an artist makes a decision to take their time to complete a project. Recently, an established artist like Kendrick Lamar returned after a five-year layoff to release Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. In the world of R&B, Ella Mai ended a 3.5 year layoff to deliver a sophomore album, Heart On My Sleeve. This Friday, an artist by the name of Arin Ray will look to do the same.
Arin Ray hopped on to the mainstream scene with a track called “We Ain’t Homies” featuring YG. Building upon the single’s success, Ray followed up with singles like “Stuck” and “Communication” featuring Shelley FKA D.R.A.M. before dropping his debut album in 2018. Since then, Arin Ray hasn’t been entirely silent. He’s worked with YG, Meek Mill, Cordae and Kiana Lede just to name a few, but he has elected not to release a full length project until now.
Arin Ray’s 2022 debut is called Hello Poison. The new LP features D Smoke, BLXST, Ty Dolla $ign and Vanjess among others. It also features production from Los Hendrix and DJ Camper. Check out the complete album below.
