Former NBA player Amare Stoudemire has been arrested for domestic violence after allegedly hitting his daughter. The former NBA forward denies these allegations after news broke that he was arrested in Miami. After being arrested he was charged with misdemeanor battery after he allegedly hit his teenage daughter in the face. He was arrested early Sunday in Miami-Dade County and released on a $1,500 bond and issued a no-contact order. The 15-year NBA veteran spoke out after being released denying the accusation.

Details did not include which of his two daughters he allegedly hit, but court documents did highlight some of the alleged incident. An argument began which led to the alleged battery. After that, the girl contacted her mother who picked up her, her sister, and two brothers before contacting the police. When the police arrived Amare Stoudemire told them his daughter “was sad because she received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a liar.” He then decided to invoke his right to remain silent.
Miami police have not commented on the incident at this time. Stoudemire does not have an attorney listed on court documents. We here at Def Pen Sports will update this story if more information becomes available.
