Jackson State star cornerback Travis Hunter has officially entered the transfer portal after the team’s loss in the Celebration Bowl. While the expectation is he will follow Head Coach Deion Sanders to the Colorado Buffaloes, that decision hasn’t been officially made at this time. The former five-star prospect will likely have many suitors, but Sanders has already hinted at Hunter coming with him to the program. He also hopes to play in the NFL one day and a move to the Power Five could help make that a reality in the future.

While Colorado is expected to be the favorite, the Georgia native will be recruited by nearly every program in the NCAA. Hunter is not eligible to declare for the NFL until the 2025 NFL Draft. This is not the first and will likely not be the last player from Jackson State to enter the Transfer Portal. Hunter is a generational college prospect and losing him is a blow to the program. The next college he commits to will look to get him involved with the defense immediately.
As a freshman with Jackson State, Travis Hunter recorded 15 solo tackles, 19 total tackles, one fumble recovery, eight passes defended, and two interceptions that he returned for 44 yards and a touchdown. His next move will be watched closely by the football world.
