Texas Longhorns Head Coach Chris Beard was arrested and has been charged with felony domestic violence. He was arrested on Monday morning and reports of the arrest became public knowledge on the same day shortly after the arrest and charges. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Beard is in their custody and going through the process of being booked at the Travis County jail. Details are limited at this time, but Beard has officially been charged with assault of a family/household member, impeding breath circulation, or strangulation in the third degree.

Chris Beard is in his second year as the Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns after leaving the Texas Tech Red Raiders for the job. He described Texas as his “dream job” when he took the job. The team is currently ranked second in college basketball and has an overall record of 7-1. Texas is set to take on the Rice Owls Monday night at eight p.m. EST. There is no word if Beard will be out of booking or available for that game at this time.
