Zion Williamson has family that are reportedly unhappy. According to reports from The Athletic, there are members of Williamson’s family that would like to see the superstar elsewhere in the NBA. While family feelings are not necessarily a reflection of reality, this is not good news for New Orleans who had to recently deal Anthony Davis before acquiring Zion in the draft.
Certain members of Zion Williamson’s family want the rising star on another team.
Have the family’s feelings seeped into Zion’s own views?@ShamsCharania, @joevardon & @WillGuillory on the Pelicans’ ongoing battle to keep Zion happy: https://t.co/oVlyRzaAYQ pic.twitter.com/PB5r76uXuT

The Pelicans failed to make the NBA Playoffs this season, and there is not a lot of confidence they are going to retain their trade pieces from the Lakers deal. It was reported that Lonzo Ball was most likely to stay in NOLA, but if the discontent goes further than just Zion’s family unit, there may be more surprises for Pelicans fans.
If Zion’s unhappiness were to continue through another season then there is serious trouble for the Pelicans. Williamson will play for his third coach in as many seasons next season, and that kind of turnover cannot be good for a developing young athlete. Williamson was an All-Star selection for the first time in his career this past season and only shows signs of improvement.
The Pelicans need to figure out whatever they need to figure out to make Williamson and his family happy in their situation. New Orleans is a great city to live in, but business is business and in the modern NBA, everyone wants to play for a winner.
