Bank Of America has set a tentative deadline for employees to return to the office. In a statement obtained by CNN, the banking giant indicated that remote workers should plan to return to the office shortly after Labor Day.
“Our view is all the vaccinated teammates will be back,” Bank Of America CEO Brian Moynihan said.
“We’ll be able to operate fairly normally and will then start to make provisions for the other teammates as we move through the fall.”
In addition, the bank has indicated that employees will have to enter their vaccination status into an online portal. It is unclear if employees will be able to see their colleagues’ vaccination information as well.
“We encourage employees to enter their vaccination status in the company portal, and we expect the majority of our employees to return after Labor Day,” a Bank Of America spokesperson added.
Bank Of America follows in the footsteps of fellow banks like Morgan Stanley that recently demanded that workers return to the office as well.
“If you can go to a restaurant in New York City, you can come into the office. And we want you in the office,” Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman argued.
“By Labor Day, I’ll be very disappointed if people haven’t found their way into the office and then we’ll have a different kind of conversation.”
