Purdue Boilermakers sophomore big man Zach Edey has announced his return to the program for his junior season. The 7’4″ big man was a force inside the paint this year in the Big Ten and the NCAA as a whole. He was an AP All-American Honorable Mention after a stellar sophomore season for the Purdue Boilermakers. This is a key return for Head Coach Matt Painter as he looks to seriously compete for an NCAA Championship. Edey will be an early favorite for the All-American first or second team.

In his sophomore season with the Purdue Boilermakers, Zach Edey averaged 14.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. His rebounds per game and blocks per game placed him first on the team while his points per game placed him second on the team this season. With Jaden Iveyheading off to the 2022 NBA Draft, it will be up to Zach Edey to step up as the statistical and vocal leader of the Purdue Boilermakers. His 7’4″ height sticks out, but as he develops more skill he will be even more difficult to score against and defend against on the court. Edey will be the top factor for Purdue heading into the 2022-23 college basketball season.
