Unfortunately, Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake will not be able to reunite on stage for a special Young Money showcase this August. The Toronto native announced that the show would not take place as scheduled because he recently tested positive for COVID-19.
“I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for [COVID-19] and the Young Money Reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the soonest date possible,” Drake wrote on Instagram.
“I will keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked. Until then I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and I love you all I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage.”
Drake, Lil’ Wayne and Nicki Minaj’s Young Money reunion showcase was expected to cap off October World Weekend. The three-part event kicked off on July 28 with the “All Canadian North Stars” celebration. Held at Drake and Live Nation’s newly opened venue, History, the event featured performances from Nelly Furtado, Choclair, Maestro Fresh Wes, Jully Black, k-os and several other stars. One day later, Lil’ Baby and Chris Brown brought their “One of Them Ones” tour to Toronto, Ontario. Lil’ Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj were scheduled to wrap up October World Weekend with a joint performance at Budweiser Stage. Fortunately, the Young Money reunion showcase will be rescheduled for a later date. Drake has also teased a Young Money reunion tour.
“I am currently working on bringing OVO FEST around the world in 2023 for the 10th Anniversary,” he wrote.
More details will come as the show is rescheduled and planned for a later date.
