Otto Porter averaged 8.2 points and 5.7 rebounds during his time in the bay. His defensive contribution carved out his role on the championship team and helped the Warriors finish with the second-best defensive rating. The former top-three pick’s ability to defend multiple positions is a premium for a team like the Raptors that covet those types of defenders.
Depth was a big focus for the Toronto Raptors coming into this off-season. The team made a strong push late in the season to claim the eastern conference fifth seed but was unable to advance past the Philadelphia 76ers. The team was led by their starting five but was forced to trade for Thaddeus young during the season to provide depth. Look for the Raptors to continue to look to build up their depth this off-season.
This is the second player from the NBA champions leaving in free agency. Besides this deal, Gary Payton II signed with the Portland Trailblazers for three years, 28 million dollars.
