Will Ferrell is diving into the world of podcasting. According to Variety, the actor has started a new company focused on comedy podcasts called Big Money Players Network through a partnership with iHeartMedia. The company plans on launching 10 new podcasts over the next two years, with the first one dropping in early 2020.
Ferrell’s already dipped his toe into the podcasting pool with The Ron Burgundy Podcast, which launched earlier this year. Since dropping, The Ron Burgundy Podcast has consistently landed among the top 100 podcasts in America.
Ferrell is just the latest big name to venture into podcasting. Earlier this summer, Kevin Bacon signed a deal to appear as a fictionalized version of himself in a new Spotify original podcast, I’m Gonna Be Kevin Bacon. And, because Spotify is apparently looking to become the Netflix of podcasting, the company also signed Barack and Michelle Obama to an exclusive podcast production deal this summer as well. Bacon and the Obamas joined the likes of Jemele Hill, Joe Budden, Amy Schumer, and the Clintons; also under exclusive deals with the music streamer.
The first podcast from Big Money Players Network will launch sometime in early 2020.
