One member of ABC’s The View will be missing for the foreseeable future. On Monday, The View co-host Joy Behar announced that the show would transition to a remote format after Whoopi Goldberg tested positive for COVID-19. Despite her diagnosis, Behar tells viewers that Goldberg is experiencing “very, very mild” symptoms.
“Whoopi unfortunately tested positive over the break, but she will hopefully be back next week,” Behar told viewers on Monday.
“Since she is vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very mild, but we are being super cautious here at The View.”
Goldberg is far from the only member of the show to be impacted by COVID-19 during the holiday season. Her co-host, Sunny Hostin, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 before Christmas.
“I am so thankful that I was vaccinated and boosted, because I just had cold-like symptoms, but I didn’t feel great,” Hostin said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ana Navarro and Sara Haines also told viewers that members of their immediate families tested positive for COVID-19 recently.
As the number COVID-19 cases continues to rise across the country, the show will shift to a remote format in order to protect Goldberg, Hostin and all members of the show.
