The Golden State Warriors are taking a flier on another center. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Dubs are signing JaVale McGee to a “make-good” deal.

McGee will have a chance to compete in training camp for a spot on the Warriors’ main roster. The team’s biggest need is a rim protector and McGee’s athleticism and length could provide that.
McGee played only 34 games for the Mavericks last season. In that time, he averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He was waived by the team following the season to clear up cap space.
McGee’s health history and general quirky attitude are always a worry. Despite physical tools, he has not been able to become an impact player in any of his stops.
Now 28 years old, the Nevada product does not have much more room to grow as a player. However, he will have the opportunity to prove himself worthy of ten minutes on certain nights for the Dubs. The skillset that JaVale McGee does possess can be very valuable for the Warriors as they work to get back to being a championship team.
