Release dates are tricky. Sometimes they stick, but sometimes they are as flimsy as the paper they are written on. Either way, release dates get the people going. In this case, it’s safe to say that when Vince Staples says a new album is coming sooner rather than later, it will arrive sooner rather than later. During a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg of New York’s Hot 97, the California native provided an update regarding his forthcoming project.
“In the notes here, [I see that] you have an album that is coming sometime soon,” Rosenberg said.
“Yeah, it’s going to be around Coachella next month. Yeah, definitely. [It’s called] Ramona Park Broke My Heart. [It has] 16 songs, a couple of features. It’s the longest album that I really ever did.”
While Vince Staples didn’t reveal who the “couple of features” were, he did offer a bit of insight on what the album means to him.
“I would probably say it’s my most complete [album] to this day. You know a lot of my work has [functioned] as an anthology of my neighborhood and my past. I think this is kind of the end of that for me. I’m not 18 years old. I’m not 19 years old. I’m not 20 years old [anymore]. I’m 28 years old,” he explained.
Coachella is set to kick off on April 15, 2022 and run through April 24, 2022. If all goes according to plan, Ramona Park Broke My Heart will arrive next month, May or potentially June. The good news is that it is on the way.
