On Friday, December 7, Minnesota Vikings Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips was arrested and charged with misdemeanor operation of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
“Wes immediately notified the team following his arrest last night,” the Minnesota Vikings stated.
“This morning we contacted the NFL, and after internal discussion, made the decision Wes will travel with the team to Las Vegas this afternoon. We will continue to gather information regarding the incident and have further comment at the appropriate time.”
Phillips was reportedly driving along I-394 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at approximately 9:45 p.m. CST when he was stopped by the Minnesota State Patrol. After being stopped by the police, Phillips’ blood alcohol level reportedly registered at 0.10. By 11 p.m. CST, he was booked into the Hennepin County Jail and his bond was set at $300. Within three hours, he was released from jail and his next court appearance was set for December 21.
Despite the arrest, Phillips will travel will the Vikings to Las Vegas this week. Minnesota is set to play the Raiders on Sunday, December 10 at Allegiant Stadium.
