The Miami Dolphins have decided to pick up the fifth-year option on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, extending their extension window. This season it was clear to see the quarterback taking a leap forward, but two official and a third suspected concussion derailed his 2022 NFL season. With his draft class now eligible for contract extensions, the Dolphins will have to quickly decide if he is their quarterback of the future. Miami does not want to be in the position that the New York Giants found themselves in this offseason with Daniel Jones after a good season.

It is likely that the Miami Dolphins have already decided to extend Tua Tagovailoa and this option pick up is to give them more time to do that. With his concussions hopefully behind him for good, the team will focus on extending him and having a bounceback season with a roster that they feel can compete for a Super Bowl this upcoming season. With Tagovailoa already proving he can win with the roster, the decision is an easy one.
This past season despite some missed games with the Miami Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa completed 259 passes for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions on 400 attempts. He also rushed the ball 24 times for 70 yards and zero rushing touchdowns. The Miami Dolphins have their quarterback and are looking toward winning in the future with him.
