Stephen Walter, Ryan Reavis and Cameron James Pettit have been charged with distributing drugs that resulted in the untimely death of Mac Miller. Previously, Petit and Walter had been charged with simply distributing narcotics. However, the two are now being charged with actions that caused Miller’s death. In addition, Walter is now facing a charge of possessing a firearm as a felon.
Following these new developments, a representative from the United States Attorney’s Office issued a statement to Rolling Stone.
The representative stated, “The indictment contains two counts that accuse the men of being responsible for Mac Miller’s death — a conspiracy count and the narcotics distribution charge.”
Furthermore, the representative added, “Previously, Pettit and Miller were charged with distributing narcotics, and now the indictment alleges that their conduct resulted in a death.”
The indictment claims that Miller asked Pettit for “10 blues” or ten percocets on September 4th 2018. Afterwards, Pettit told Miller that he’d send a “runner” to deliver the pills. According to the report, Reavis met with Pettit and picked up the pills. On September 5th, Miller obtained the pills, which contained fentanyl, along with cocaine and Xanax. Two days later, Miller passed away at the age of 26 because of an accidental overdose.
In the weeks that followed, the indictment claims that the group continued to distribute illegal substances. Furthermore, Reavis allegedly sent a incriminating message to an unnamed person discussing the rise of “fake blues” in recent months.
Reavis wrote, “People have been dying from fake blues left and right.”
Pettit and Walter will likely be arraigned on these charges on October 10th. Meanwhile, Reavis will be arraigned once he arrives in Los Angeles.
Miller’s family has not issued a statement regarding these most recent updates.
