Netflix is working its way into becoming one of the biggest movie studios in the world. In recent months, the streaming platform has put together Malcolm & Marie, Fatherhood and Concrete Cowboys. Later this summer, the streaming giant will make its next forray into original film with The Harder They Fall.
“When outlaw Nat Love discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary, his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally,” the film’s description reads.
“Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including ‘Treacherous’ Trudy Smith and Cherokee Bill, and they are not a group that knows how to lose.”
The storyline is brought to life by a star-studded cast that includes Lakeith Stanfield, Regina King, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Jonathan Majors, Delroy Lindo, Damon Wayans Jr. and Deon Cole. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and James Lassiter produced the film while Jeymes Samuel directed it. Check out the first piece of their finished work below.
