Entertainment mogul Will Smith has landed his next project at Netflix. The legendary actor will lead a one-hour variety special later this year that will be produced by Westbrook Studios. Not much is known about the project just yet, but it will feature comedy sketches, celebrity guest appearances and musical performances.
Smith worked with Netflix on a project earlier this year called Ammend: The Fight For America. Using the U.S. constitution as a guide, Smith explored different systems of inequity and oppression woven into American society. Along the way, Mahershala Ali, Samuel L. Jackson and Yara Shahidi pop into offer their insight into different matters each episode.
Beyond his work with Netflix, Smith has remained incredibly busy. Later this year, his new film, King Richard, will honor the life of Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard Williams. He will also lead the upcoming Antoine Fuqua project, Emancipation. Rounding out his slate of projects, he is working with Morgan Cooper to develop a revitalized version of the hit television series, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Netflix has not yet shared a title for the special, but reports suggest that it will debut on the streaming platform in the fourth quarter.
