Kanye West has managed to do business with a number of large brands including GAP, Adidas and even Nike. However, he is now at odds with one of the biggest corporations in the world.
Earlier today, West’s Yeezy Brand filed a lawsuit accusing Walmart of selling an “unauthorized exact copy” of the Foam Runner for $25. In return, West and company are seeking “major damages” from the company.
“We take allegations like this seriously and are reviewing the claim,” a spokesperson for Walmart told Billboard.
“We will respond in court as appropriate after we have been served with the complaint.”
The Yeezy Brand currently sells the Foam Runner for $75 per pair. Ironically, West initially hoped to sell the shoe that is sold on Walmart’s site for approximately the same price.
“So for me, I’m gonna make this shoe be $20,” he told podcast host Joe Rogan during a recent interview.
“Money isn’t real, so the world should eventually be free.”
Despite pushback from West and Yeezy Brand, the shoes remain on the Walmart website until the legal process moves forward.
Kanye is suing Walmart for copying his popular Foam Runner, claiming millions in damages for the confused customers questioning their authenticity. ?
