On Monday, a soccer team will head to Capitol Hill, but it isn’t this year’s MLS titleholders. Jason Sudeikis and the cast of Ted Lasso will meet with President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to discuss “the importance of mental health to promote overall wellbeing.”
“Ted Lasso has inspired the world through its universal themes around optimism, kindness, and determination and the Lasso philosophy to believe,” an announcement from Apple reads.
The President and First Lady will be joined by a number of stars from the hit series, including Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris and James Lance.
AFC Richmond’s trip to Washington, D.C. coincides with the launch of the show’s third season.
“In the third season of Ted Lasso, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them to finish last in the Premier League and Nate , now hailed as the ‘wonder kid,’ has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard,” the synopsis for season three reads.
“Meanwhile, while Ted deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway.”
The first episode of season three debuted on March 15, 2023. Episode two will premiere on March 22, 2023.
