This month, Donald Glover and Janine Nabers debuted their first joint project, Swarm. Starring Dominique Fishback with contributions from Damson Idris, Chlöe Bailey and Billie Eilish among others, the series takes a deep dive into obsessive fandom, grief, cults, emotional distress and much more.
To the surprise of a few, Malia Obama was credited as a writer throughout the graphic series. More specifically, she is listed as a co-writer for episode five. As viewers get their first taste of the show, Swarm Co-Creator Janine Nabers has taken time to praise Malia Obama’s work on the twisted series.
“It is probably one of the wildest episodes. I think it’s going to surprise a lot of [people. It’s pretty dope. I’m really proud of it,” Nabers told ET Online.
“Some of her pitches were wild as hell, and they were just so good and so funny. She is an incredible writer. She brought a lot to the table…She’s really, really dedicated to her craft.”
Nabers is not the first person to praise Obama’s work. Last year, Glover was also asked about her while attending the season three premiere of Atlanta.
“She’s just like, an amazingly talented person,” Glover said.
“She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.”
