SZA has secured yet another award at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, California. Moments after taking the stage to perform “Snooze” and “Kill Bill,” the standout single from her latest album, “Snooze,” won Best R&B Song.
“I just…I’m sorry, I’m just really overwhelmed,” she said as she accepted the award.
“You don’t really understand. I came really, really far and I can’t believe this is happening and it feels very fake.”
It is her first victory of the televised ceremony and her third of the evening. She previously won the Best Progressive Album for S.O.S and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost In The Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers.
SZA’s victory adds to a dominating evening for women in the genre. Her contemporaries, Victoria Monet and Coco Jones, each won their first GRAMMY Awards as leading artists this evening. Coco Jones’s “ICU” won Best R&B Performance, while Victoria Monet’s Jaguar II won Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best R&B Album.
Both SZA and Victoria Monet are also nominated in several of the night’s biggest categories. “On My Mama” and “Kill Bill” are nominated for Record of the Year. SZA’s latest LP, S.O.S, is also nominated for Album of the Year.
