As we get closer and closer to the trade deadline, the trade rumors are slowly, but surely starting to ramp up, around the league. Many teams are either looking for salary dumps, future picks or a player that they believe will help them with their playoff push. Subsequently, Pheonix Suns forward P.J. Tucker has been one of the players who has seen his name floated around in trade rumors, in recent months.
Following from Marc Stein of ESPN.
The Clippers have offered a future second-round pick for Suns forward P.J. Tucker — who is said to have a not-so-secret admirer in Doc Rivers — but sources say Phoenix is holding out for a first-rounder in exchange for the rugged defensive specialist.
Tucker and out-of-favor guard Brandon Knight are widely regarded as the most “gettable” Suns. Coach Earl Watson announced this week that veteran center Tyson Chandler is “not going anywhere.”
With both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul out with injuries, the Suns’ could be trying to force the Clippers’ hand by asking for a 1st rounder. Whether or not the Clippers’ pull the trigger on this trade is another story, but the asking price for Tucker is a 1st rounder, as of today. In a league that is top heavy at the small forward position, a team may consider Tucker because of his defensive prowess and give up a 1st rounder for him. Tucker will be yet another player we will have to keep an eye on come trade deadline.
