Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker is registering trade interest from several teams, according to John Gambodoro of arizonasports.com:
According to my NBA sources, the Clippers, Bulls, Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Hawks all have interest in acquiring the lock-down physical defender who is in the last year of his contract at just $5.3 million.
The New York Knicks also expressed some interest in trading for Tucker this season, according to an ESPN.com report published earlier in the month.
Tucker is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and would likely prefer being traded to a situation where he’s comfortable signing a long-term deal.
Tucker, 30, has averaged 6.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 41 games with Phoenix this season.
The Suns have interest in re-signing Tucker, according to Gambodoro. He has spent his past five professional seasons playing for the Suns, joining the team back in 2011.
In recent seasons, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough has been active in trade discussions, dealing away Markieff Morris last year and Goran Dragic the season before.
With the trade deadline now five weeks away, expect McDonough and the Suns to continue being an active team in talks.
