Bill Simmons is looking to extend his relationship with Spotify. Not long after striking a deal with the streaming giant to acquire The Ringer, Simmons has landed a job as Spotify’s head of global sports content. He will assist the company’s efforts to develop sports content around the world. In addition, he will continue to manage The Ringer and host his popular podcast.
Alongside Simmons, Max Cutler has also been promoted to Spotify’s head of talk creator content & partnerships. In this role, he will help foster and evolve the app’s community of content creators. Spotify tells Deadline that these promotions will aid “an acceleration and expansion of our ambitions.”
“[This is a] massive level up moment for so many hard working people and for our podcasting efforts as a whole,” Spotify spokesperson tells Deadline.
Moving forward, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek aims to boost the app’s community of creators from 11 million to 50 million.
