Shea Serrano is taking the next step as an overall creative force in Hollywood. The popular author, podcaster and cultural voice has reportedly landed a deal with Netflix. He is expected to develop a new series called Neon with Max Searle, one of the creative minds behind FX’s Dave.
“The series revolves around three friends who move from a small town in Florida to Miami with the hopes of making it big in the world of reggaeton. Neon chronicles their larger-than-life dreams as well as the harsh comic realities of attempting to make it in the music industry,” a series description from The Hollywood Reporter reads.
Tyler Dean Flores of Falcon and Winter Soldier will reportedly play the lead role of Santi, a reggaeton artist with big dreams. Alongside Flores, Emma Ferrerira and Jordan Mendoza will play his two close friends, Ness and Felix. Completing the main cast of Neon, Courtney Taylor will play his A&R.
Serrano is not stopping there. In addition to developing Neon, Serrano is also working on a new series called Primo with Mike Schur at Freevee. Not to be forgotten, Serrano is still a writer at The Ringer and reportedly still the host of No Skips on Spotify.
