
Leland “Metro Boomin'” Wayne has reportedly sold a portion of his existing catalog to Shamrock Capital for a whopping $70 million.
The critically-acclaimed producer and songwriter has worked on a number of hits, including “Bad & Boujee” by Migos and “Mask Off” by Future. Most recently, the Atlanta-based multi-hyphenate delivered his sophomore LP, Heroes & Villains. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the album features Future, 21 Savage, Chris Brown and many other chart-topping acts. The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart.
Shamrock Capital is no stranger to the music industry. The Los Angeles-based investment firm previously purchased master recordings for Taylor Swift’s first six albums. More recently, the investment firm raised $600 million with the intention of strategically acquiring assets across film, TV, music, video games and sports.
Shamrock Capital is not alone in its endeavors. Previously, Influence Media Partners invested in Future’s publishing catalog. Also, Opus Music Group collected a piece of Juice WRLD’s catalog. Not to be forgotten, Dr. Dre also sold a portion of his catalog for $200 million.
