Wake Forest Demon Deacons quarterback Sam Hartman has announced that he is transferring to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. There had been some speculation that he would choose Notre Dame and now that move is official. He will spend his final season with the Irish after finishing his career with Wake Forest as the all-time leader in ACC passing touchdowns. Notre Dame will look to get back on track this upcoming season and will hope to compete for a spot in the 2023-24 College Football Playoffs. Hartman will be a key addition with that goal in mind.

In his career with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Sam Hartman completed 944 passes for 12,967 yards, 110 touchdowns, and 41 interceptions on 1,597 attempts. He also rushed the ball 416 times for 855 yards and 17 touchdowns in his Wake Forest career. An injury this season slowed the top ACC quarterback down, otherwise, he might have declared for the 2023 NFL Draft after this season. Instead, he will spend a year with Notre Dame and then will likely focus on the 2024 NFL Draft. A good year with the Irish could improve his draft stock heading into 2024.

Sam Hartman is considered one of the best quarterback’s in the transfer portal and likely had plenty of offers. He was linked to Notre Dame almost immediately and was not swayed from that decision while he was in the portal.
