Wake Forest Demon Deacons star quarterback Sam Hartman has announced he will enter the transfer portal. There are already rumors circulating that he is eying the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program for the 2023 college football season. Instead of declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft like some expected, Hartman will play college football next season. An injury slowed him down a bit this season and the 2024 NFL Draft may look like a better option for him after a year at a different football program. This news came after he led the team to a 27-17 win over the Missouri Tigers in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl.

In his career with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Sam Hartman completed 944 passes for 12,967 yards, 110 touchdowns, and 41 interceptions on 1,597 passing attempts. He also rushed the ball 416 times for 815 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. At Wake Forest, he also caught one pass for three yards in his career.
