Howard leaves the Lakers following a renaissance campaign that saw him return to effectiveness after a period of medicority in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington. Philadelphia will likely utilize Howard as the backup big behind Joel Embiid. Last season, the Memphis Grizzlies bought out Howard before seeing him sign with the Lakers. He was traded to Memphis after spending a very limited amount of time with the Wizards, though hardly played due to injury.
The 34-year-old Howard appeared in 69 games for the lakers, putting up 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He also added a block per game, maintaining some of that elite-level defense that he became known for. In Philadelphia, Howard should be able to thrive in limited action once again assuming he maintains good health.
