Actress Rebecca Ferguson is the latest star to join the cast of the highly-anticipated feature film inspired by the popular series, Peaky Blinders. Details regarding her role are being kept under wraps.
Ferguson is the second star to attach their name to the film, following Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy. The Oppenheimer star has already agreed to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby, leader of the Birmingham gangster family.
Murphy will also produce the film alongside Peaky Blinders Creator Steven Knight, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley. Meanwhile, Tom Harper will direct the film based on a script written by Knight.
Details regarding the plot have not been shared with the public, but Knight recently told Deadline that it would be set in or immediately after World War II. Production is set to begin later this year.
“I want to see what the movie tells us. It’s always the way in the writing of it. If you don’t start with a rigid beginning middle and end, which I don’t, and just let it go, somehow you find out what’s going to happen next,” Knight said.
“Certain people will come to the front, and I like the idea of wartime, or post-war Britain, cause it’s a very different landscape and I think it would be great to explore that. It brings a whole new look, and people dress differently and act differently so it will be interesting.”
