The Maryland Terrapins stroke gold today in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Georgetown Big Man Qudus Wahab and Rhode Island Guard Fatts Russell are both transferring to the Maryland Terrapins. These two additions solve the Terrapins’ biggest roster needs. The team needed a big man down low and a point guard that can run the offense for the team. Head Coach Mark Turgeon now has a loaded roster going into the 2021-2022 NCAA season assuming he keeps everyone else. The team already had some of the best wing position players in the Big Ten in Aaron Wiggins and Eric Ayala.
BREAKING: Maryland will also add URI transfer point guard Fatts Russell, source told @stadium. Russell averaged 14.7 points, 4.5 assists, 4.5 boards.

Fatts Russell is a senior with two years of eligibility remaining while Qudus Wahab is a Sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining. The two have an extra year of eligibility remaining thanks to the NCAA rule that this year would not go against players’ eligibility due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Wahab averaged 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while Russell averaged 14.7 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. This is some serious firepower coming into the Maryland program and expectations will be high for Coach Turgeon.
The two new Terrapins should fit into the program well and if the team gels they could be a serious problem in the Big Ten. Russell and Wahab also bring in even more experience to a roster that is already quite experienced. They will both be upperclassmen joining with more upperclassmen with NCAA Tournament experience. This is a big splash in the NCAA Transfer Portal for the Maryland basketball program.
