Former North Carolina Tar Heels junior forward Puff Johnson has announced that he has transferred to the Penn State Nittany Lions for next season. The Tar Heels had six players enter the transfer portal in the past month and Johnson is the last one to announce his next destination. While he considered several programs, he returns to his home state of Pennsylvania doing the inverse of what his NBA brother Cameron Johnson did when he left the state for the North Carolin Tar Heels. This is a solid addition to the Nittany Lions.

This past season as a junior for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Puff Johnson averaged 4.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 38.7 percent and a three-point percentage of 28.3 percent. Injuries and inconsistent play-time slowed him down in his Tar Heels career. The hope for Penn State is that he can stay healthy and be a key rotational player for the program next year in the Big Ten. Johnson is still hoping to make the NBA one day to follow his brother but has a long way to go before he gets there. Time will tell on how likely he is to make it there one day.
