On Thursday, January 4, Paramore surprised fans by posting a disheartening message via Instagram.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paramore can no longer attend and perform at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO on January 13,” the message reads.
“The band apologizes for any inconvenience.”
Shortly thereafter, the band wiped their social media channels clean and some began to speculate if the group was going to break up. Hours later, it was reported that the band had simply completed their 20-year deal with Atlantic Records and would test the waters of free agency.
“The band’s longtime website, paramore.net, now leads to a ‘404 Not Found’ message, which alarmed many fans of the group. It’s not due to a split. The site was taken down on the day the group’s 20-year deal with Atlantic Records was up, sources say,” Variety‘s Chris Killman writes.
Paramore is riding high after releasing their latest LP, This Is Why, and headlining a world tour. Not to mention, the band recently served as an opening act for Taylor Swift during The Eras Tour. With the band entering free agency, it’s unclear what lies ahead for Paramore in 2024.
