Oculus VR has officially announced that the Rift will start shipping as of March 28th. Along with the official shipping date, the Rift receives a $599 price point. The $599 price point does not include shipping or taxes. After the March launch the Oculus headset will start to arrive in limited markets during April and May.
The Rift will be bundled with a Xbox One controller, sensor and remote so you can navigate the “VR experience”. Oculus consumers will also receive two games: Eve: Valkyrie and Lucky Tales. Unfortunately buyers will have to wait some time for the Oculus Touch as it has been delayed to be worked on.
You can pre-order your Rift, here, now. There are also a few Oculus Ready PC’s for pre-order as well, here.
For the full Rift experience, Oculus developers recommend the following PC system:
- graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater
- processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
- memory: 8GB+ RAM
- output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
- input: 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
- operating system: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer
If your computer doesn’t make the requirements and you don’t want to build the PC yourself, you can purchase an Oculus Ready PC and Rift bundle for a staggering $1,499. Pre-orders for the bundle will start in February.
