KD8 ELITE FEATURES ADVANCED PERFORMANCE INNOVATION FOR DURANT’S STRETCH RUN
Here we have it folks, as expected the upcoming Nike KD 8 Elite has officially been unveiled. While the KD 8 has had several colorways release for its regular silhouette, it’s the Elite that is taking things to new heights. Literally. It was @SneakerReporter who originally broke the news on what to expect from Nike and KD for the KD 8 and with the details being for this Elite version, it was expected that the original design for the 8 would be these. Either way the decision to leave this model as the Elite was a good call.
From looking at the pictures provided by Nike through their official press release introducing the shoes, I like the design. I am not too fond of the calf length sock, I believe its just way too high for me but on a performance level I am sure its purpose is needed there.
With three initial colorways set to release which you can view below, I hope these aren’t the only colors or even better I hope Nike throws them on NIKEiD. I also would look forward to a model just like this but a much short sock, so maybe a mid would be cool.
As Kevin Durant prepares for the season’s final stretch, he’ll be equipped with the KD8 Elite: a technically advanced, provocative new version of his eighth signature shoe.
Created in collaboration with designer Leo Chang, the breakthrough basketball shoe features a calf-length compression sock, full-length visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning and Flywire technology with Kevlar® aramid fiber. Strategically placed non-stretch woven materials ensure a snug, secure fit while foam provides protection and comfort.
“Transitioning from a low to high is a decision we made with confidence based on our ongoing feedback from Durant to always push the limit on innovative design,” says Chang.
“The KD8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight; seamlessly transitioning between each so you can’t differentiate where one begins and the other ends.”
Three key benefits of the KD8 Elite include:
1. Built-in, crew-length compression sock for enhanced support.
2. Full-length visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning for a responsive ride.
3. Flywire technology with Kevlar ® aramid fiber for superior lockdown.
The KD8 Elite white colorway is available globally April 14 at nike.com and select retail locations. Two additional colorways will be available May 5 (grey) and May 26 (black).
