International soccer star Neymar has just been added into the third season of Netflix’s La Casa De Papel (Money Heist in English).
He was originally set to appear in the series’ third season when it launched in July. However, due to an ongoing rape investigation, Netflix opted to edit his small role out. Recently though, Brazilian police dropped the investigation because of a lack of evidence. So, Neymar’s role was edited back into the series.
In the small two-episode cameo, Neymar plays a monk named João. Both he and the writers had a bit of fun with his part as the World Cup comes up briefly. “I don’t like football nor partying. At the World Cup, I always pray for our team,” João says, tongue firmly in cheek.
Neymar was over joyous at the opportunity, sharing his cameo on Twitter. The tweet, translated from Portuguese, reads “I was able to realize my dream and be part of my favorite series. And now I can share João with you all! Gracias @lacasadepapel ! #LCDP3 #nuevofichaje #lacasadepapel”

Netflix has already had a pretty big week, announcing theatrical releases for many of their upcoming original films. The streamer also released a trailer for its revival of the UK series Top Boy.
