Coby Fleener just got paid! In Indianapolis he was a complementary target to go along with fellow tight end Dwayne Allen. NFL media insider Ian Rapoport is reporting Fleener is headed to the big easy to be the main weapon.
The #Saints are signing TE Coby Fleener to a 5-year deal worth about $36M, source said. Large.

Once Indy landed an extension with Dwayne Allen it became unlikely the team would keep Fleener as well. This is surprising of course as Fleener is a former collegiate teammate of Andrew Luck. His $7.3 million per year deal is very comparable to the deal Allen landed. Indy’s cap situation made it difficult to match this sort of offer.
For New Orleans this move is rather significant. Drew Brees has lost his starting tight end two years in a row and will now have a fresh face at the postion for the third straight year. Two years ago the team traded Jimmy Graham away to the Seattle Seahawks. This offseason Ben Watson was signed away by the Baltimore Ravens.
During four seasons in Indianapolis Fleener, 27, caught 103 passes for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns.
